Well..Here it Goes...

I've done it, I've began my journey in becoming a self proclaimed photographer...and it's kind of a big step for me. Ya know when you create something?...like if you are a writer, singer, artist, musician...or whatever...and you're kind of shy about sharing it?...because it's maybe something personal, or you're totally nervous about what people are going to REALLY think?...well that's how it kind of is for me with some things..and photography is one of those things. Or at least it was. I owe a thank you to my friend Megan who was the first to ask me to take her family pictures (and later, her son's first birthday photos) before I even started any of my classes. It was a bit of a confidence booster for me. And since then I've done a few other family photo shoots, and of course have taken thousands of pictures of my own little one!
I started taking some photography classes at our community college in September. I've had a blast, met some cool people, and have had TONS of help from my instructor, Jack. I still have a ways to go in my learning and getting where I'd like to be, but I am finding my way there through hundreds of mistakes, some awkward moments during photo shoots...which are always hilarious...and a few good shots here and there. I am loving it and have discovered a whole new appreciation for photography and the person behind the camera!
I'd also like to throw out a thank you to my husband, Shawn, who bought me my first camera (a Canon powershot SD 400) while we were dating in 2005. And then surprised me last Christmas with the Canon rebel xsi....and this year I am hoping he'll surprise me with the Canon 7D with the 28-135mm lens! ....totally kidding (thats a 1,900 dollar camera...the ultimate bad boy)...someday, I'll have it...maybe! Shawn also came up with my photo name...and several others for me to choose from!
Anyway, I've created this blog so I can have a place to share my work, and record all the little tidbits along the way.
